Emergency Preparedness Training

CHC has produced six training programs to prepare home care agencies for the H1N1 virus and other pandemic flu outbreaks, terrorism, bioterrorism and natural disasters. All are available at no charge following registration. These programs have been made possible by a grant from the New York State Department of Health and the Health Resources Services Administration.

Home Care Emergency Preparedness Series

The first three programs (audio files and workbooks) are available in English and Spanish. Programs 4 through 6 are webinars in English only. All programs are available at no charge after registering.

To download an audio file, do a right click where it says "download the audio file," choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" and save the file to your computer.

Workbooks are Adobe Acrobat documents. To view or print them, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. This program can be downloaded (at no charge) from Adobe.

Each webinar consists of four files of various types, included here as a compressed zip file. To download a webinar to your hard drive, click on the link and then choose "SAVE." This ".exe" file is self-extracting--you don't need the WinZip program on your computer.

After the zip file has downloaded, choose "Run" in the next dialogue box and then select the folder where you would like to put the individual files. (Creating a new folder or downloading to your desktop may make things easier for you.) Once those files are extracted, double-click on the "index" file (or go to "File, Open" in your web browser and open the file "index" in the appropriate folder) to play the webinar. If you have questions about this process, you may contact Tony Zullo at 518/463-1118, ext. 833 or zullo@nyshcp.org
