Nonprofits or others who are partnering with academic institutions may have a special interest in
following provisions of the Act, either because of special relief being provided to communities
that your organization typically serves or provisions that would authorize new federal funds
for grants that could be used to better serve their local communities. As with any grant
funding, organizations must review the stimulus bill to see if your project is in alignment
with the purposes of the Act. This Act is to achieve the following purposes:
- To preserve and create jobs and to promote economic recovery.
- To assist those most impacted by the recession.
- To provide investments needed to increase economic efficiency by spurring technological advances
in science and health.
- To invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will
provide long-term economic benefits.
- To stabilize State and local government budgets, in order to minimize and avoid reductions in
essential services and counterproductive state and local tax increases.
If you think your organization may want to apply for a grant, then check the following resources
regularly:
www.Recovery.gov
A new government website that answers Frequently Asked Questions, provides a timeline of when various
events are to occur, and will serve as the official transparent public place where grant distribution
information is posted.
www.grants.gov
Actual information regarding grants available will be on the Web site and new and expanded grant
announcements resulting from the ARRA are coming out daily. If you don't already use this site
and you think you may apply for Federal grants, you should immediately follow the online process
for registering your organization with the system.
This section will be updated periodically as CHC becomes aware of funding opportunities through
ARRA that would be of interest to home care agencies. For additional information, contact Gayle Farman,
Director of Grants & Demonstrations at 518/463-1118, ext. 816 or
